As a proud whānau Māori living in Queensland, Australia, we know firsthand the struggle to stay connected to our Māoritanga. The cultural gap here is undeniable—finding clothing, toys, homewares, and educational resources that reflect our identity and values is hard enough, and when we do find them, they're often far too expensive. We moved here to create better opportunities for our uri whakaheke, but we’ve asked ourselves: at what cost to our cultural roots? The weight of responsibility to nurture oranga whakapapa and ensure our hononga remains unbroken is immense. It’s this deep sense of purpose that gave life to Rongo-ā-Tahu.

Our mission is simple yet powerful: to flood the homes of whānau Māori across Australia with affordable, high-quality Ao Māori products. From clothing that carry our pūrākau to homewares that ground us, toys that inspire, and educational resources that empower—everything we do is driven by our commitment to strengthening whakapapa and celebrating who we are.

We have resided in Queensland since 2015, and since the birth of our eldest pēpē in 2018, the pull to reconnect with our roots has grown stronger. Āna, kua ara mai he tētēkura!
